Dear the Key I have water coming in from the top of my neighbour’s flue forming a puddle at my front door. It’s been like this since last year. I’ve had inspectors out to look but they all said different things and it’s still not sorted. Mrs Haggarty, Aros Drive Apologies for the delay in this, Mrs Haggarty. Our engineers have been out to install the plume kit to resolve the problem. Any more issues, let your housing officer know.

Dear the Key As per the front cover of the February magazine, I see yet more new builds going

up in Glasgow for one and two-bedroom properties. It’s the same in Scotstoun and Lincoln Avenue. Why are you not building three or four- bedroom properties which families are crying out for? I have been overcrowded now for nine years and still no sign of a house. My teenage daughter shares a bedroom with twin brothers aged nine. As happy as I am for the new home owners, this seriously needs to be looked at! Claire Meldrum, Glendinning Road Thanks for getting in touch. Best advice is to keep bidding on Home Finder. Your housing officer

can help you increase your chances of finding a home that suits your needs. The housing mix in new GHA developments depends on the demand in an area. In Glasgow at the moment, demand is mostly for smaller homes. But we are building larger homes where there is the demand – around 20% of our developments on site are three-bed or above. We always monitor housing need to make sure we build homes which meet demand. Hope this helps.

Dear the Key Can you tell me the problem with putting electric central heating in? I have to wait an hour for half a bath and when my shower broke recently, I had to wait a week for a new one. You can imagine the inconvenience, not to forget how expensive it is to run storage heaters. Michelle Berwick, Great Western Road Hi Michelle. It sounds like you have a problem with your boiler. We’ve arranged for an engineer to visit and check it out and sort it for you. We’ll also make an appointment with a fuel advisor to help you stay warm and cut your costs. Hope this helps.

My house has been done up with new windows and doors, which gives a nice new appearance. But I still have an old railing dividing both gardens. It’s an eyesore and sometimes has to be nailed up. Can I have a decent new one please? M McCance, Cleeves Road Thanks for writing in. As you say, there’s a lot of work going on in Cleeves. We’ve

installed new windows, doors, kitchens and bathrooms and overclad the homes. We’re now working on the open space, including the grass areas and parking areas. Next up, we’ll be working on the fences in the back court. We’ll get to you soon. Thanks

Dear the Key I wrote to you last year regarding my overgrown back garden. I’ve been a tenant here for 32 years and the trees have never been cut back. My grandchildren can’t use their trampoline. I realise there’s a waiting list, but wonder how far down the line I am? Charlotte Mulhall, Bellahouston Drive Hello Charlotte. We’ve been out to see you about this. Our arborists will get to you as soon as possible to trim back the trees. They’re a small team and very busy, so we’ll keep you updated. Thanks for your patience.

Dear the Key

I’m writing on behalf of a friend and neighbour. There’s work going on outside his ground- floor home, with new fencing being erected. The access path means he has no privacy as everyone walks past his windows. Can one of the entrances or exits next to the communal entry be closed by fencing, leaving access at the other end of the building for grass cutting etc? A nice little green area is also being destroyed as people use it as a shortcut. Three years ago it was inspected but never followed up. Please pursue this matter.

Mrs Dunn, Acre Road Thanks for getting in touch. We were always going to install that fence as part of the project and it’s been
