SERGEANT Iain Renfrew, of GHA’s Community Improvement Partnership, on how Police Scotland deals with abuse.

IF you are experiencing physical, emotional, sexual or financial abuse or are being intimidated or threatened by a current or previous partner, you are being subjected to domestic abuse. It is important to recognise the abuse and know that there are people who can help. It can be difficult to accept that someone you love and care for can treat you badly. But the need to keep yourself, and your children, safe is vital. Police Scotland is committed to providing a professional, sensitive and consistent approach to victims of domestic abuse. This means: • Ensuring your safety, as well

as your children and any other person present • Conducting a thorough
