Barony partnership
WHEATLEY, YourPlace’s parent company, is a step closer to welcoming a new partner into the Group – Barony Housing Association. An overwhelming majority (92%) of the Barony tenants who took part in a month-long ballot have voted to join Wheatley Group. Barony members approved the partnership with Wheatley at a Special General Meeting (SGM) in March. Subject to the approval of the Scottish Housing Regulator, Barony is expected to join Wheatley in April. Barony employs over 200 housing and
care staff. It also owns and manages 300 general needs properties and offers a range of supported accommodation and registered care homes in West Lothian, Edinburgh, Falkirk, Clackmannan, Stirling
and Fife. It also provides a wide range of care and support services to over 700 people in Edinburgh, West Lothian, Fife, Stirling and Falkirk. Wheatley Chair Alastair MacNish said:
“We are delighted Barony tenants voted overwhelmingly for the partnership. I can speak for everyone at Wheatley when I say we are looking forward to welcoming everyone at Barony into the Wheatley family.”
Fences? Make sure you get the height right
FENCES and hedges are one of the most common areas we get asked about, particularly during spring and summer. So we’ve put together few guidelines to help you if you have a fence or hedge at your property or if you’re thinking about putting a new fence up.
• Hedges should be kept neat and tidy, making sure they don’t get overgrown and restrict access for anyone else. The width of a hedge shouldn’t block common paths.
• If you’re thinking about putting up a fence, speak to your factoring agent first, as there is often detail in the title deeds about size. In general, fences, walls or hedges shouldn’t be bigger than two metres high, or one metre where the vision of traffic might be an issue. The height of a fence, hedge or
wall is not an issue that we as the factor can control – we can advise owners on regulations, however, we can’t enforce them.
• If you are planning to install a fence, wall or hedge on a common part of the property you will need consent from other owners in the block. Again each title deed is different depending on your property type, so if you are planning to install a fence and need some clarification please contact your factoring agent.
• Fences that are on an individual owner’s ground are an individual responsibility for that owner.
