Starting School Admission


Our Admissions policy follows guidelines laid down by London Borough of Waltham Forest.


Application to the Nursery can be made directly to the school. Please be aware that a child’s place in the Nursery does not guarantee them a place for the school’s Reception classes.


London Borough of Waltham Forest manages admission to all other year groups.


Reception and in year admissions are determined on the basis of: • Children with Education, Health and Care Plans


• Siblings in school already • Children who live nearest to the school


• Any exceptional circumstances.

At Mission Grove Nursery we accept children in the term after they turn 3 years old. The option of a part time morning or afternoon place is given to parents on application. New children visit the Nursery before they start and these visits play a vital role in settling your child into routines. Home visits will also be carried out.


You will be asked to provide information regarding your child’s health as well as providing emergency contact information when your child starts. We also have a home school agreement that we ask you and your child to sign to show your support for your child’s experience at Mission Grove.


UNIFORM


The school uniform is a red sweatshirt/cardigan with the Mission Grove logo and a white shirt/polo shirt. These are to be worn with black trousers or a black skirt.


We are very proud of the Mission Grove uniform and it’s important that your child wears this in order to feel a part of the school community. Please ensure that suitable, black footwear is worn.


All pupils are expected to bring a PE kit comprising of black shorts, red t-shirt with the school logo, plimsolls and an optional track suit for the colder months.


We also expect all children to have a school book bag. Jewellery should not be worn at school.


Attendance and Punctuality


It is important for all children to attend regularly in order to make progress. Equally it is important to foster a good work ethic by making sure children arrive to school in good time to start the school day.


On the North site the school day starts at 8.55am for a 9.00 am start and finishes at 3.30 pm. The South site starts at 8.40 am for a 8.45am start and finishes at 3.15pm.
