INDUSTRY NEWS SURETANK SUPPLIES HELIFUEL SYSTEM TO SHELF DRILLING

Suretank, the world’s leading provider of engineered solutions to the offshore oil and gas industry, has manufactured and delivered specialised helifuel re-fuelling tanks and jettison skids for two platforms in the Gulf of Thailand.

The equipment is for Shelf Drilling, the world’s largest contractor of jack-up rigs, and along with the helifuel system a number of baskets and containers were also supplied to update the platforms’ existing cargo carrying units.

The units were mobilised by Suretank’s logistics’ team from its manufacturing base in Ireland to Dubai, where the jettison skids were attached to the rig. The rigs then sailed to Thailand where the helifuel tanks were married to the platform and the CCUs were loaded on board ready for operation in the Gulf.

Greg Bailey, Sales and Operations Manager Asia Pacific for Suretank said: “Timing was critical as the rigs had a tight schedule to run to Thailand and into operation from their refit in Dubai.”

M5tec, the North East England-based engineering consultancy, has moved to a larger office space to facilitate its ongoing growth.
