China – The Dawn of a New Beginning for Retail FX
China has been talked about a great deal across the world for many centuries, but probably more so than ever before in history given the boom in growth that the world’s second largest economy has experienced in the last decade. The development of China’s capital markets since the 1990s has been prolific to say the least and with around about only half of China’s general population of 1.357 billion people having access to the internet or a smartphone1

one could argue that the online trading and investing industry in China is very underdeveloped, with significant potential for growth. There are more and more truly innovative solutions being developed by Asian brokers and Chinese institutions such as the National Equities Exchange and Quotations (NEEQ) market, founded in 2012, are helping to nurture technology start-ups by providing them with access to capital.
But just as with financial markets, for every up there’s a down and in 2015 Chinese investors suffered considerable losses from a stock market rout that is comparable to Black Monday. Chinese indices are still well off their record highs of nearly two years ago. To say it was an interesting time to set up a Chinese retail broker would be an understatement.
