EDITING SOUND, TITLES AND CREDITS


At the beginning of the trailer, the two production company idents (Europa and Filmnation) are shown. Yet, the background sound is not part of the ident, but rather continues on into the trailer.


Through the trailer, it shows “From Academy Award Nominated Director – John Madden” and “Academy Award Nominee – Jessica Chastain”, on the screen in all caps in a large white text against a black background. This is shown so that the audiences, that like prestigious films, which get nominated and win awards and would enjoy watching the film.


Throughout the trailer is non-diegetic sound which is a compilation of drums, guitar and piano. There is a sense of cooperativeness amongst the sound playing in the background and the editing of the footage among the trailer, because once there is either a drum thud or a sole piano chord played, there is either a hard cut to another scene or a cross-dissolve.


After the woman speaking to the camera mutters those last words, there is a hard cut to the title of the film Miss Sloane. This is insinuating that she is the eponymous character.


In addition, in the last seconds of the trailer, it reveals the cast members names with non-diegetic sound playing in the background. When each of the cast members names are shown it is accompanied by a drum thud, which is meant to seem cooperative.


The text ‘Coming Soon’ is flashed on the screen after the cast names were displayed. This is to notify the audience that the film is coming out soon and that they should be aware of its release.
