Since Miss Sloane is a DC lobbyist, her attire through the trailer is smart, sophisticated and appropriate. She is seen wearing tailored dresses and suit skirts, which makes her look professional. Along with the rest of the cast that appears in the trailer, they all wear quality business clothes, since they are all part of DC’s elite and upper class.


In addition, many of the clothes worn by Miss Sloane are either dark (black and navy blue) or white. The dark clothes are contrasted with her pale white skin and her bright ginger hair, which makes her stand out amongst the other characters and the setting. This use of colour makes Miss Sloane the center of attention in all the scenes she is in, which signifies her importance. Miss Sloane is shown with a basic makeup pallet, which consists of a crimson red lipstick accompanied with a dark purple eye shadow.


Many of the scenes among the trailer are tinted certain colours to convey specific feelings and themes. For example, many of the scenes in the trailer are tinted blue to create a sense of danger and suspense. The lighting used among the monologue is bright and makes her stand out and further shows how she is important, determined and not to be reckoned with.


A common theme among political thrillers is to have the surroundings of the politicians, such as the settings and the colour tones to be as realistic as possible. This is achieved in Miss Sloane, as in the majority of the interior scenes in the trailer, the windows of the sets are used as the motivation for a strong naturalistic key light, to create a realistic lighting for the film.
