For over 90 years, the production of high tensile shackles has been at the core of Van Beest competence.
Van Beest product lines are used in many different lifting applications across various sectors like oil & gas, industry, mining, shipping, and fishing.
And the numbers don’t lie. Van Beest is an industry leader in stock availability (99 percent for their Green Pin® products) and maintains stock-keeping distributors in 90 countries across the globe. “Tis isn’t to say we are oblivious to any
disadvantages that a high-stock availability brings,” van der Zalm admitted, “but Van Beest is a family company that invests for the long term. We pride ourselves on building long-term relationships with our customers. Going for savings from reduced stock levels now at the cost of being a fair-weather friend to our customers is not the way we want to do business.” Moreover, Van Beest’s extensive history has equipped them with a unique understanding of how markets change and grow over time—a method van der Zalm describes as taking “a long view in business.” Tis insight means that even when faced with lagging oil and gas markets, Van Beest has a mature perspective and views this with a keen eye towards associated industries. Van der Zalm points to such complexity in a market like subsea lifting, as an example. “So even for oil and gas, we tend to see flickers of growth as long as you focus on the specific needs of
whoever is doing the lifting,” he said. “An example is subsea lifting: this market is going to continue to grow over the coming years, even though it too is going through a rough patch at the moment. In recent years we have introduced three different product ranges of Green Pin ROV shackles for subsea lifting applications. Teir usage also extends beyond oil and gas, of course, to other offshore industries—like wind for example.” As for the future of Van Beest, both Keffer and van
der Zalm are extremely optimistic. “On a product level, we cannot disclose too many details about our 2017 plans, unfortunately,” said van der Zalm, “but we’re sure our customers are going to like it.” Keffer, meanwhile, assures that “ … customers can expect the same top-notch technical service and availability they are used to. Our commitment to have our Green Pin and Excel products there for customers when they need it should get people across North America very excited.” y
