Asia, Egypt & the Med
This epic adventure is bursting with unforgettable destinations in Asia, Africa and the Mediterranean, each presenting you with chances to explore some of the greatest ancient icons on Earth. Be amazed by the beauty of Burma; tour to encounter four Wonders of the World, including the Taj Mahal and the Great Pyramid of Giza; take in Athens’ mighty acropolis; and marvel at the Leaning Tower of Pisa. There’s even a sailing of the Suez Canal to experience too.
This exciting voyage of ancient discovery begins in Malaysia, where Black Watch will be waiting for you to embark in Port Klang. From here the ship will sail to Thilawa, you’re stopping point for taking in the wonders of beautiful Burma. The awe-inspiring golden spires of Shwedagon Pagoda are not to be missed in nearby Yangon, while the extraordinary sights hidden in the spiritual city of Bagan can be explored on a magical overland tour.
Visiting two very different destinations in India you’ll encounter contrasting sights and experiences. First you’ll call into Kochi with the chance to see the famous Chinese fishing nets and the oldest synagogue in the British Commonwealth. You may opt to take a boat tour into tropical jungle via the backwaters of Alleppey. Then, Mumbai will showcase India’s livelier side, with its towering skyscrapers and busy bazaars. Experience all the hustle and bustle while taking in the city’s highlights, including the Victoria Railway Terminus and Gandhi Memorial Museum. Alternatively you could use your time in India to marvel at the iconic Taj Mahal – an architectural masterpiece and one of the New Seven
Wonders of the World. This extended tour begins in Kochi and you’ll return to the ship in Mumbai.
Another of Earth’s great wonders can be ticked off of your ‘must-visit’ list with a call into the Jordanian city of Aqaba, from where you can take a tour to uncover the incredible Lost City of Petra. It’s then on to Africa to discover the highlights of Egypt. A full day in the popular resort of Sharm el-Sheikh will allow you time to relax on warm golden sands, or snorkel the colourful coral reefs. A memorable sailing along the Suez Canal will then guide you to Alexandria. Not only is the birthplace of Cleopatra VII steeped in history, it’s also the gateway to the River Nile and iconic Pyramids of Giza.
The return via the Mediterranean will show you some of the region’s most celebrated landmarks. Tour to the remarkable ancient city of Ephesus from Kusadasi; venture into the awe-inspiring acropolis in Athens; and see the incredible Colosseum in Rome. You’ll also visit Livorno for tours to beautiful Florence and the Leaning Tower of Pisa, and spend a day in Malaga.
