Woodbridge Horticultural Society - the future
CALLING all Garden lovers. The Woodbridge Horticultural Society was established in 1852 but unless new members come forward to continue running it, this will be its last year. Various suggestions have been made, to change its name to Woodbridge Garden Club ; to meet during the daytime in Winter, to have only a dozen events a year , including talks, visits and social events. All great ideas, BUT it needs people to run it. Here is an organisation with its own sound system, digital projec-
tor and screen, catering equip- ment, show vases, tables etc. Most people on the present com- mittee have done more than their time and are in their late seventies and eighties. We need those recently retired or even younger. Can you help please? Contact Ruth Ingham at 28

manage the project explained to a capacity audience at a recent Sun- day talk the enormity of the task and the detail involved in sourc- ing materials and methods which would have been used in building the original. It promises to be more enthralling than any dark Scandanavian TV thriller and without the need for subtitles. But there is a Scandanavian connec- tion and help has come from a Danish village where a similar venture has already been com- pleted and fortunately they made a video of the work which will be a valuable reference. Extracts showed timbers being painstak- ingly cut and shaped with axes and joints bound up with twine rather than glued and screwed as we would do today. The building work is likely to take two to three years and there will be opportuni- ties for the public not only to watch progress, but also volunteer for some hard labour, in the inter- est of traditional integrity! Earlier in the month Peter Wil-
lis gave talk on the boats of Arthur Ransome which although much smaller and more recent, nonethe- less are classics of their time, the early 20th century, and of course feature in many of his books. John White the Felixstowe
Ferry Harbourmaster spoke brief- ly to members to warn that the Deben Entrance is becoming blocked and it is probable that
Just Hair, Woodbridge
LOCATED at 44 Market Hill, Just Hair is the longest estab- lished hair salon in Woodbridge. Owned by Edward Bolton since 1979, the business has been at the heart of this historic town for the last 38 years. The beautiful 17th century building is steeped in his- tory and prior to being a salon, it has been a pharmacy, sweet shop and even a coal merchant. Edward is joined in the salon
by a team of stylists including Salon Manager, Hazel Smith. Hazel has been at Just Hair since last August having previously worked at a salon in Ipswich. This was always going to be the career for Hazel having begun her life as a stylist as soon as she left school. She has great experi- ence and clearly loves what she does. This passion is passed all the

way down from Edward himself – you don’t own a salon for almost 40 years without loving what you do. The whole team get on well and this only helps to cre- ate a fun and relaxed atmosphere. It is fair to say that some salons can be a little intimidating – but
with a close-knit team of staff this is certainly not the case here at Just Hair. Joining Edward and Hazel are:
Sarah, Dennis, Jenny, Gemma and Lydia – the new apprentice. Hazel explains that she is always very keen to work with appren- tices, and they are always looking for models for the apprentices so if you are interested in this please mention this to one of the team. It goes without saying, in a
salon such as this all stylists, other than the apprentices, are fully qualified. However, this does not mean that the training stops there. Whenever a new product is introduced to the salon the team attend the relevant train- ing. There is also regular in- house training. Just Hair offer a full range of
salon services for men and women. Colour, cut, style, hair extensions, hair-up - you name it they do it. Perhaps one of the key strengths here is that whatever you want, the team are happy to deliver. The stylists are just as happy to give you a simple wash, cut and blow dry if you would
like to keep your usual style. Yet, if you want a new look but are unsure of what to do with your hair, the team at Just Hair are equally happy to offer the benefit of their expert advice and help you create a new and unique look. ‘Perfect hair’ is different for
every individual and achieving a perfect result that is not a daily struggle is what the team spe- cialise in. Taking into account individual features and needs when putting together a haircut and colour leaves a unique look. This personal approach is what
has led to so many repeat and regular customers returning week after week, year after year. It is also the very reason new cus- tomers walk through the door in the first place. Just Hair is a unisex salon with
a great team offering a warm wel- come and expert service. Wheth- er you are looking for a simple cut or a fabulous style for your wedding day, Just Hair is the place for you. For further details or to book an appointment please call 01394 382461.
