She was then given her annual maintenance which included lots of paint and varnish. They have just brought in the 1959

wooden power cruiser SAWSEA which is a 34 foot Wheeler Playmate. They are fi rst going to address three leaks around her windows and then they will give her a total cosmetic makeover. A 34 foot wooden lobster cruiser was in

for sister frames, planks on the transom and plank ends at the stern. They are still progressing on the Spark-

Whaler, was in and restored. A Bahia powerboat came in for a new

was in for a stem repair. This meant cutting out a piece of the stem and replacing it.

Paul Luke in East Boothbay present-

ly has a couple of orders for propellers. One is for the Rockland-based schooner AMERICAN EAGLE, skippered by Capt. John Foss. Another 19-inch propeller will be heading to Annapolis. Presently, this is a busy time of the year for propellers. A Calvin Beal 40 has a new owner and

she is in for interior modifi cations and elec- tric and electronic work. An Alden schooner is in for repairs.

They have just started to survey the issue with the steel centerboard trunk and deter- mine the best solution for its repair. Over and above the major projects are

the usual storage customers which need var- ious degrees of bottom work, paint, varnish, and waxing.

For the last several winters Billings

Diesel & Marine’s mechanical shop in Stonington has been buried with work. They are not doing as much repowering as they did last year, but they are doing a lot of hydrau- lic upgrading. This is due to the regulation changes from hauling singles and doubles and switching over to trawls. In the main shop, there is a Dixon 45

having her hydraulics upgraded and right next to her is a Duff y 42, which was re- powered with a rebuilt engine. A 30-year-old 44-foot DMR, a gill net-

ter from Gloucester, MA, is in having new fuel tanks, bulkheads, and platform. A 56 DMR will be coming in later this month for two new Volvo engines. They are still selling a number of new

engines, most of which are sent out to the fi nisher and installed.

Wayne Beal hull, which is being fi nished out as a lobster boat for a local fi sherman. The hull arrived the fi rst week in January and they are working on her interior and install- ing the structure underneath the platform. The interior will include four berths, head, work cabinet and hydraulic room. She will be split wheelhouse with a dinette that can be made into a berth and a captain’s chair. She will be powered with a 1400 hp MAN diesel and should move right along. They also have a Northern Bay 36 com- ing in to be repowered.
