ollowing a global search for a new workboat supplier, SpillPro has announced its partnership with Water Witch,
which was founded in Liverpool, UK, in 1966. The new partnership means
Australian customers will have access to the Water Witch range of pollution control vessels that are well-respected in the marina industry on an exclusive basis in Australia. Brett Lee, SpillPro’s manager of oil spill equipment and incinerators, said: “The waste collection boats Water Witch manufacture, are, I think, the best in the world and will fit a need in Australian ports where rubbish in the
water is a real problem. These boats can effortlessly collect all rubbish and debris and mechanically place it in a skip to be collected and taken away”. The Water Witch range has
grown to include a wealth of road- transportable pollution-control workboats and efficient waste transfer and storage barges – there are now more than 200 vessels in operation world-wide. Jackie Caddick, Water Witch Director, stated: “Thanks to the combining of
Water Witch’s expertise in trash collection boat technology with SpillPro’s marine clean-up experience, Australian customers can look forward to a single point of contact
for cleaner marine environments. It means a multitude of benefits for SpillPro’s clients, including a streamlined delivery process and more comprehensive product support”. In its statement, Water Witch
also indicated a sharing of trash boat knowledge and resources with SpillPro, which will benefit Australian customers: “All our vessels, which range from five to nine metres LOA, are designed to undertake a range of duties in addition to waterway clean-up and our new partners, SpillPro, will bring their expertise in oil spill response and emergency applications”.
Over 100 pedestals for Akuna Bay
The manufacture of over 100 marina service pedestals has been completed by M-Tech Marine Technologies of Coomera, Queensland, for d’Albora Marinas, the largest marina operator in Australia. The 1100 mm Platinum pedestals are destined to be installed within the 190-berth Akuna Bay marina located in the picturesque Hawkesbury and Cowan River in the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park. Akuna is the Aboriginal reference for ‘flowing water’, which is fitting
as the Cowan and Hawkesbury River systems combine in this idyllic location. Working closely with Brett Bolton,
CEO of d’Albora Marinas, to deliver pedestals that suit the project’s requirements, the Platinum units have been manufactured to an IP65 rating, with aluminium extrusions that have a 25 micron anodised finish to cope with the harsh marine environment, a Valox & Tirex UL- approved UV-stable pedestal lid, lens and diffusers, finished with silver

composite exterior panels, together with the new Platinum glass- reinforced thermoplastic base, meet all relevant ISO standards. The pedestals will supply vessels with a choice of various electrical socket outlets from 15 amp single- phase up to 125 amp three-phase, all protected by ABB switchgear. Each pedestal will also feature AS- approved stainless steel water taps and M-Tech’s 42 chip LED 360 degree illumination. In addition, the management of
both energy and water consumption has been taken into account with NMI Pattern-Approved IEC 62053- 21 Class 1 meters and water meters with the standard RS485 port and Modbus RTU protocol – a vital component of an intelligent, multi- function monitoring solution for any energy management systems. M-Tech is a world leader in this type of metering for both marina and caravan parks and within the next few months is said to be unveiling a system that will totally revolutionise any existing systems currently on the market.
