SONOMA COUNTY, CA. ~ Engin Yesilyemis is the founder of, Disclaimer, the Jazz Fusion band based in Sonoma County. “I tell people I speak four lan- guages, and one of them is mu- sic,” he explains. In addition to his na- tive tongue, Turk- ish, he also speaks German and Eng- lish. He immigrat- ed to the United States in early 2004 to pursue a career teaching special ed- ucation. Teaching jobs were hard to come by; so instead, he followed a dual-career path he remains passionate about, cycling and music. Making a living as a traveling sales rep for a cycling company meant many nights in hotel rooms. He does not watch television so; he de- cided to spend his time on the road learning to play acoustic bass. Once, he even traded a

His special musical relationship transcends with the Upright Bass exploring the realm of Jazz Fusion. “Each note provokes a different emo- tion in our brains. You can play the same song in two different keys and the song will produce two dif- ferent emotions,” Engin ponders, waxing poetic on what Jazz means to him. He says

he enjoys the musical conversa- tion between the musicians as is evident when watching him perform in concert. Engin explains that rather
