HEAR THIS:

IT’S ABOUT TIME Karen Mason With Valentine’s Day tucked away for another year, the heart still beats vividly strong within the voice of Karen Mason. Mason is a noted Broadway star who was unknown to me… Until her new CD, It’s About Time. She’s a belter in the best tradition and loud or soft, she is sensational. The title track, written by her husband Paul Rolnick and Shelly Markham honors marriage equality in a powerful way. A unique voiced matched with a quality of Linda Ronstadt and Maureen McGovern discovered within. Available March 3

VOLCANO Temples Temple’s second full CDVolcano rings in like a carousel of kaleidoscopic sounds with innovative melodies, lyrics and arrangements. The English rock band with lead vocals and guitar by James Bagshaw truly master the art of majestic and imaginative grooves. Futuristic, psychedelic in structure and feeling, there is an essence of the Beatles, Yes and The Moody Blues in their sound. No recreational drugs are hardly necessary to experience the musical flow ofVolcano; just let yourself fall into this wildly creative selection of songs. Available March 3

WATCH THIS:

FAIR HAVEN A somber and poignant film,Fair Haven presents the story of a young 19-year old (Michael Grant) who after going through reparative therapy at his local church returns home to ultimately discover that he still has feelings for another young man he was told to forget. Told in times of flashbacks of the time spent being told to be “healthy and heterosexual” the film is a heart-wrenching, true-to-life telling of misguided anger, compassion and the realization of the epiphany of discovery of sexual identity.

Available March 7

JACKIE Some events never lose their relevance. In the case of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, people across the world who witnessed this event, remember exactly where they were on November 22 ,1963 when it happened. The pain and disbelief was felt no more tragically than by Jackie Kennedy. Academy Award- winning actress Natalie Portman presents a virtuoso performance during this horrific time. Both extremely nuanced in emotional grief, strength and resolve; Jackie is a history lesson in heartbreak.

Available March 7

DEPARTURE Though a tad too thought-out, there is an emotional connection of intensity to be discovered inDeparture. An English mother and her teenage son head to their French vacation home to ready it for sale. Alex Lawther as “Elliot” is too preoccupied to be of much help to his mom as he chances upon an older teen who he becomes entranced by. Director Andrew Steggall’s first feature film is beautifully realized as the family’s turmoil ensues into different emotional planes for each of the characters.

Available March 7
