Chawner ban


A DRIVER from Maidstone who was caught driving his Ford Focus while over the legal drink limit has been banned from the road for over three years and given a £400 fine. Adam Chawner (26), of Buckland


Hill, was stopped on January 27 in Holland Road, Maidstone, and gave a breath test of 63mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The limit is 35mg. He was sentenced at Mid Kent Magistrates’ Court on February 10 after he admitted the drink driving offence. Chawner must also pay £85 in costs and a £40 victim surcharge.


Senacre raid


A HOUSE in Senacre has been bur- gled, sparking a major investigation. Forensics teamswent to the prop-


erty in Chislehurst Close after thieves struck on February 7. A Kent Police spokesman said:


“Kent Police received a report stat- ing a home in Chislehurst Close, Maidstone, had been burgled overnight. Nobody has been ar- rested and enquiries are on-going.”

Hallway fire


FIRE crews dealt with a blaze in the hallway of a home in Wrangleden Road, Shepway, on February 9. The fire broke out in the property


at about 10pm.Twoapplianceswere called to the scene. Fire-fighters wore breathing apparatus and a ventilation fan was used to clear smoke. There were no reported in- juries and fire crews left soon after.
