Grimwade Brothers & Royal Winton Pottery Research Archive. A substantial collection of research material relating to the growth and development of this well known firm and its products. Included in this collection are: 1. Research copies of advertisements that appeared in the 'Pottery Gazette' 2. Research copies of the original catalogues issued by the company dating back to 1890s - many in colour? Some original early catalogues. All illustrating various products including: Nursery Ware, Salad Ware, Bairnsfstherware etc. 3. Copies of 'period' photographs of members of the original Grimwade family. Together with one depicting an 'Annual Grimwade Staff Picnic .' 4. Period photographs of the factory buildings. 5. A set of original 'magic lantern' glass slides featuring the factory workers, production lines, storage & products. 6. Sets of photographs depicting various products of the firm. 7. A photo index of all the back stamps associated with Grimwade & Winton products. 8. Transcripts of interviews with staff who worked in the firm in the early 20th.C. Together with cassette tape recordings. 9. Copies of the Last Will & Testament of Grimwade Family members. 10. Wall-poster sized sheet featuring an original transfer design. 11. Two books resulting from the research archive by Muriel Miller: Collecting Royal Winton Chintz The Royal Winton Collectors Handbook from 1925. Cottage Ware, Art Deco, Lustre Ware, Pastels etc. This collection is almost certainly a unique and historic archive which will be of interest to collectors of Royal Winton, Historians, Students and Museums. 17th.Century Military Officer's Commissioning document,handwritten on vellum with the original wax seal: ''Charles Earl of Monmouth, Viscount Mordaunt of Avilon, Lord Leiutenant of the County of Northampton, one of their Majesties most Honourable Privy Councill ..... in pursuance of the power and authority given to me..... appoint you John Winkles to be Lieutentant to Captain Richard Willoughby, Company of Foot Soldiers in the Regiment of trained bands raised, or to be raised, in the said County of Northampton under my Command for the service of their Majesties.... 1690.'' Mounted, framed and glazed.
