I

t was a great turnout for all brackets that represented the five divisions at the 2016 Singles Tournament. I would like to thank all that supported and participated in the tour- nament. I know with AH codes and platoon duty it can be a challenge, so thank you. The event was held at the Los Ange-

les Athletic Club in Downtown LA. They did a tremendous job in catering food and drinks throughout the day. The first match was the “D” Division

which included Bobby Ward from 66-B vs Alfonso Gonzalez from 56-B. Both gentle- men showed up ready to play in an unknown environment in

front of a crowd of fans.

Bobby pulled away with a lead in the first match, until Fonzy utilized his wisdom and placement of shots to catch and win both matches. These guys are getting better every time they get out on the court.

Second match was between Jack Ba-

ham vs Jim Como 84’s in the “B” Division. This was going to be a match of strategy and utilizations of time outs. These guys played ev- ery point with thought and hustle. In the end Como would pull away and win the “B” Divi- sion.

Next came the “C” Division with

Shawn I’Anson 89-A vs Kent Brower 93-C. This match was out of control from the get go. Brower had power serves that took him

to a comfortable lead, until I’Anson figured out how to return his serves. I believe the fan award went to this match, these guys played their hearts out all three matches. There was no easy point scored, with both of their wing span, there was not an inch of the court that either of them could not get to. The match went to

game three tie breaker and in the end Brower would pull away and win 11-10. Great games fellas, and thanks for the hustle and show you two displayed.

Now the fourth match was the “Mas-

ters” Division with Joe Castro vs Eddie Marez. I would like to mention that this tournament
