Happy New Year and welcome to the first issue of the Stockbridge Spotlight for 2017. All that festive stuff seems a bit of a dim and distant memory now.


I have to admit after nearly 3 weeks off over Christmas it has been a bit of a struggle getting back into the swing of things. But normal life has resumed - by which I mean juggling kids, work, shopping, house stuff etc etc. The usual things for a busy working mum. I am lucky that I work the Spotlights around school holidays and family life. Not quite the issue it was when my boys were younger and there were schools things on during the day and half days on Friday but still a great thing to be able to do. My other ‘job’ is as a consultant with the Body Shop At Home. Again I am self employed doing this and it very much works around family life - I plan when I work and not the other way round. If you would like to have your own business and you be the one planning the hours you work rather than work planning you, have a read of my article on page 39. It might just change your life like it did mine.


As usual the Spotlight will run every 6 weeks during 2017 with a break over the summer. A full schedule of dates - both distribution dates and artwork deadline dates - are on the website (www.stockbridgespotlight.co.uk). If you are a community group have a look and see if the dates of any of my issues would help let people know about your events. The community pages are free to charities and non profit making groups.
