MARIA DELIA VELA IBANEZ
October 2, 1926 January 15, 2017 Maria Delia Vela Ibanez, best known as “Mrs. Dee,” 90, of San Diego, Texas, passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2017. She was born in San Diego, Texas on October 2, 1926, to the late Miguel and Rosaura Vela. Mrs. Dee was an avid seamstress and an amazing cook. She attended Texas A in Kingsville, Texas where she received her BA degree with honors, with a double master’s. She retired as Chief Executive Officer for Duval County Co-Op at San Diego (TX) ISD. She also served as a City Council member for the City of San Diego. Mrs. Dee moved to Bay City, Texas 10 years ago and made it her new home. She enjoyed her family visits, playing dominoes with family and friends, making tamales, listening to music, playing with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her neighbor’s children. Delia is survived by her children: Cynthia D. Benavides (Robert), Norma B. Lopez, Sandra M. Byrd ... Funeral scheduled for Saturday Feb. 18 at 10AM.

June 29, 1975 July 17, 2016 Deborah Jean Gadzala, age 41, passed away on July 17, 2016, in San Diego, California, of addiction- related causes. Born in Arizona, she spent much of her life in San Diego and lived briefly in Barstow, California with her fiancé. A loving mother, she found solace in reading, writing, music, and surrealist artwork. She is survived by her mother, Gail; brothers Patrick and Andy; sister Abigail; four children ages 15, 13, and twins, 8; and fiancé, Nathan and his son, age 7. During her twenties she traveled extensively with the San Diego band Crash Worship. She loved peacocks, elephants, tuberoses, peonies, chocolate, and was prominent with the local music scene, supporting bands such as Three Mile Pilot, Drive Like Jehu, and the Night Marchers.

His life’s work was software engineering but his true passions were family, friends and Diet Coke. He had a wide variety of interests including history, politics, romantic comedies, and science fiction Born in San Diego, Stephen was a USDHS graduate and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He served 6 years in the US Air Force and then earned a BS in computer engineering from UNM, an MBA from SDSU and worked at many San Diego tech companies during his career. In earlier years, he was active in Scouting and a volunteer at St. Therese and Blessed Sacrament parishes. Stephen and Veronica Valdisera Meyers celebrated 41 years of marriage, raising 3 sons, Dennis, Kenny and Andrew. The family has grown to include 2 daughters, Marisa and Blythe, and 2 grandchildren, Logan and Ruby, with another due in April. ...
Gary P. Roberts, passed away on Wednesday, the 11th of January 2017, in Carlsbad, California. He was 64 years of age. He was born on the 24th of February 1952, in Manhattan, Kansas, to Mary Ann (Lehman) and Earl Roberts. He graduated from the University of New Mexico with Bachelors in Economics in
1986.Gary started working at Quintiles in March of 1999 in the Facilities Department. After three years as a Facilities associate he moved into the Clinical Trail Assistants role for five years, before he became a Clinical Research Associate in 2007. Gary worked with countless teams and in multiple therapeutic areas at Quintiles. What he enjoyed most about his job was mentoring others and passing on his knowledge and expertise. Lori passed away peacefully in her sleep at home in Carlsbad after a lengthy illness. She was born in Oceanside, California to Don and Bette (Ruebush) Crossman. She was preceded in death by her father. Lori graduated from Humboldt State University in Eureka, California with a degree in nursing and was a registered nurse. She worked at Tri-City Hospital among other venues, and spent 20 years in the medical field. Illness and the need to care for her mother precluded her from returning to nursing. Lori loved life, her family and friends, and the outdoors and spent many hours on or at the ocean with those close to her. Her
May 28, 1952 January 13, 2017 Jim Feeley, 64, passed away January 13 at home with family by his side. He was a lifelong resident of Pacific Beach who graduated from Uni High School 1970, and SDSU with a MS in Electrical Engineering. His professional career spanned more than 34 years at SPAWAR, where he was involved in the design, development, production, and installation of electronic systems supporting the Trident II missile. At home he also enjoyed working on projects; no matter what it was, fixing surfboards, cars, or homes, there was always a tool in his garage that could help. He loved helping others and never expected anything in return. Jim enjoyed the beach, sailing, camping, trips to Hawaii, but most of all spending time with family.
