WELCOME FROM THE EDITOR
Overleaf, we profile our legion of suppliers for business travel, catering, corporate gifting, event planning, corporate hospitality plus hotels and venues – all with the discerning PA in mind. And, as a new year comes into focus, so do forecasts for market trends.
Travel of any kind, be if for leisure or business, is an adventure. And for busy professionals, when time is short and expectations are high, they need to know that where they’re going is absolutely on the button. From chauffer services, duty of care, to current industry trends, organising schedules and making reservations, there are many elements that trusty PAs need to be privy to when arranging travel for their executive, in order to ensure a seamless and stress-free experience.
Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions are fundamentally networking tools and a foundation of successful businesses. Industry predictions signal that the MICE sector is poised for dynamic growth and the interest in international meetings is on the rise. The importance for businesses is on strategic markets and up and coming destinations offering innovative forward thinking meeting spaces with new age technology and recreational opportunities and learning in relaxed and cultural settings. More countries are advertising themselves as MICE hotspots in order to draw event organisers, whilst travel companies are shifting their focus to offer more specialised MICE activities and services. Establishing a respected relationship with a travel agency for complicated itineraries is essential.
Running an event can be a challenge that can be influenced by a multitude of factors. Whether it’s a small-scale business lunch, purchasing hampers for your company as a gift for clients, or a major company event such as the Christmas party and corporate hospitality experiences – the process followed to plan and manage such events will directly influence how successful it will be.
Picking a venue is key. The options are endless. Think royal societies, outdoor spaces, private dining rooms, pop-ups, caterers and boutique and luxury hotels. So, what does the year ahead have in store for hotels and restaurants to help you decide? Locally-sourced products and unique experiences are en vogue. Hotels are getting smarter, offering guests services via apps on mobile devices, whilst more and more properties are offering wi-fi free of charge and getting serious about their health offerings which concentrate on mind over body by introducing cognitive and emotional coaches. A restaurant, hotel, bar and member’s club all curled into one is another trend that seems to be unravelling. Soho House founder Nick Jones is leading the way with his project The Ned, due to open in the City in April and Robert De Niro is opening his hotel The Wellington in Covent Garden later this year. Get these on speed-dial, pronto!
