The Great Mughal involves a diamond dust body polish, a chocolate body wrap, a protein-rich caviar facial, an aromatherapy massage and lashings of Dom Perignon. Afterwards, a four-course dinner is laid on. A bargain at £1,030.

CREAM OF CORNWALL Merchants Manor in Cornwall has added a new spa to its boutique offering. The Linen Rooms is a cosy-luxe retreat offering treatments such as four-handed massages, Cornish massages and ‘massages with ropes’ (don’t knock it ’til you’ve tried it). Inlight products, blended locally by herbalist and skincare expert Dr Mariano Spiezia, are used for everything, and the hotel can organise a tour of the doc’s charming farm if clients are interested.
