HERSELF IN TOWELLING TO TEST THE LATEST LUXURY SPAS

ACROSS THE GLOBE SPA REVIEW

THE DORCHESTER SPA, LONDON

IN ASSOCIATION WITH

Adorned with antique mirrors, heaving pearl chandeliers and lashings of cream leather, it’s no wonder this elegant hideaway attracts a spa elite. The treatment list reads more like something you’d find in a floral boutique than a wellness emporium with therapies such as ‘rose cocoons’ and ‘lavender- crush body rituals’, and the pampering is as good as it smells (excluding the mud and spirulina wraps, that is). There’s a wide range of big-name beauty brands to choose from – six at the last count including Aromatherapy Associates, Florian and Kerstin – but what makes this pastel-hued primping parlour really stand out is its upmarket boudoir feel. You won’t see gym bunnies huffing through its hallways or corporate types waving their handhelds to get a signal. It’s a deeply cossetting, intimate space where serious spa etiquette is upheld at all times. Treatment rooms are bright, clean and high-tech, a neat contrast to the deep blue womb- like relaxation lounge, where one could easily lose several hours thanks to the infinitely flattering lighting. Ten out of 10 for treatments, 10 out of 10 for therapists and 10 out of 10 for atmosphere. Bravo

Dorchester, you always knock it out of the ballpark. WHY GO? It’s the only place in the UK offering anti-ageing treatments by Hollywood’s beauty go-to

doctor, Dr Barbara Sturm. MUST-HAVE TREATMENT: The Dorchester Sleep

Deeply massage (100 minutes/£190) WOWFACTOR: Champagne afternoon tea served within the spa’s pretty-as-can-be ‘spatisserie’ – dress

code: towelling robes and slippers. DORCHESTERCOLLECTION.COM

HEALING HANDS

Following a multi-million-euro revamp, Anassa in Cyprus has enlisted facialist-to-the-stars Anastasia Achilleos to give spa-goers a taste of cranial sacral therapy. Nicknamed ‘magic hands’ by the Financial Times’ How To Spend It magazine, Achilleos is worshipped by the A-list for her uber- facials, which combine decades of skincare know- how with an emotional element, tapping into the body’s rhythms via reiki. Achilleos believes that by aligning the central nervous system and addressing connective tissues that become hardened over time, one can achieve a younger

look. Worth a try, I say. Facials start from €250. ANASSA.COM
