Catalina Island Museum announces grand opening
celebration The Ada Blanche Wrigley Schreiner Building will open to the public, June 18.
AVALON — The Catalina Island Museum will fi nally have a permanent home after years of leasing space on the ground level of the Avalon Casino building as the museum is scheduled
to open the new Ada Blanche Wrigley Schreiner Building on June 18. A grand opening celebration will include a ribbon cutting ceremony, and a fi lm screening of “Jaws.” Events will be held throughout the day. The building’s two main galleries focus on history and art. The largest gallery is permanently dedicated to
the history of Catalina Island while the other is dedicated to special exhibitions of photography, painting and sculp- ture. The opening special exhibition, Bettie Page Uncovered: The Unknown Photographs of Bunny Yeager, is the fi rst museum exhibition in California dedicated to Page and consists entirely of photographs that have rarely, or
never, been seen before. Special events will run from June
18-July 4 as part of the museum’s grand opening. A Members Preview Day is scheduled from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., June 17. The Ada Blanche Wrigley Schreiner

Two Harbors Wine Festival offers plethora
of tastings Guests can taste the fi nest in imported and regional wines at 15th annual event.
TWO HARBORS — Wine connoisseurs can enjoy sipping the fi nest in reds, chardonnays, syrah and bubbly while on a beautiful beach in Two Harbors during the island’s 15th annual Wine Festival.
The one-day event scheduled from
1-4 p.m., June 4 at the Main Beach at Two Harbors is a tasting extravaganza featuring the fi nest in imported and regional wines. Hosted by the Santa Catalina Island Company and the Avalon Rotary Club, the day of tasting provides guests with plenty of fun and wine samplings. The popular event sells out every
year; purchasing tickets in advance is strongly encouraged. Once on site tast- ers can walk from table to table where wineries will have designated stations. Ticket price includes unlimited tast-
ing of participating wineries, comple- mentary light appetizers, live music, and access to the event silent auction. The wine festival is a charity event with all proceeds going to the Avalon Rotary Club and directly benefi ting local island charities and scholarships.
