Tomas Built Buses kicked off its 100th anniversary celebration early with a major launch with Zonar Systems and other partners of the new BusWise suite of technologies. BusWise fully integrates with Zonar’s fleet management and tracking solutions for providing real-time data, including student tracking information via Z Pass, inspection reports from EVIR and real-time vehicle and driver alerts through Ground Traffic Control. Tomas President and CEO Caley Edgerly called it “actionable telematics data” on vehicle health and performance, especially as alerts on speeding, excessive idling, hard acceleration and braking positively effect fuel economy. with BusWise, which also features Perimter View 360 from Mito Corporation, a multi- view camera that provides bus drivers with a complete “bird’s-eye view” around the bus that virtually eliminates any blindspots in the school bus danger zone or while the bus is on route. BusWise also gauges tire pressure, driver usage of seat belts, wheelchair lift activation, stops arms and more. Meanwhile, the Tomas handed the keys of its 75,000th Saf-T-Liner C2 to Maryland contractor Bishop Bus Service.
