More than 70 attendees from the region attended the M&O conference, where they were briefed on Bell Helicopter’s Customer Support and Services off erings, including the online spares ordering system, warranty administration, key maintenance issues and an update on the Bell 505 Jet Ranger X. Representatives from Rolls Royce, Garmin and Turbomeca were also on hand to answer questions about their products. “Bell Helicopter’s M&O conferences are unique in our
industry,” says Steve Woolston, director, Product Support for Bell Helicopter’s Customer Support and Services organization. “They provide an opportunity for Bell Helicopter to routinely update and train our customers on changes in our products and enhancements in safety procedures, training advancements or technology updates.” Training continues to be a key aspect of Bell Helicopter’s
growing presence in China. This year, the Bell Helicopter Training Academy (BTA) received Part 147 facility organizational approval from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC). This authorization allows the BTA to conduct theory and practical training in China for the Bell 206, Bell 407, Bell 412 and Bell 429 product lines. The BTA, in collaboration with Guangzhou Civil Aviation College (GCAC) and Suilian General Aviation, conducted Bell 206 maintenance training in October. The course was conducted at Suilian General Aviation and included theory and practical training completed on a Bell 206 aircraft maintenance trainer. GCAC instructor staff participated in the training alongside a BTA qualifi ed instructor. Upon successful completion of the exam, the students received their CAAC certifi cations for the Bell 206 series aircraft. “The demand for qualifi ed pilots and mechanics continues
to grow in China,” says Ray Lamas, general manager, Global Customer Training for the BTA. “Bell Helicopter is working to meet that demand and to bring training directly to our Chinese customers.”
Additional maintenance courses will be added in 2015 for the Bell 206 and Bell 407 product lines.
Airbus Helicopters’ EC135 T3/P3 Receives EASA Certifi cation
The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) certifi ed the new EC135 T3/P3 by Airbus Helicopters, completing a new and important chapter in the development history of the EC135. Following in the footsteps of the successful EC135 T2+/
P2+, the EC135 T3/P3 again sets new standards in terms of performance, safety and reliability for the EC135 family of helicopters. This new version, like the previous ones, will off er the most competitive operating costs in this helicopter class. The nearly 1,200 EC135 helicopters delivered as of today have clocked up over three million fl ight hours world-wide. “When it comes to rescue missions, police surveillance,
trips to and from oil platforms, wind park maintenance or private transport, the EC135 T3/P3 upholds our promise to continuously improve our products,” said Wolfgang Schoder, CEO of Airbus Helicopters Germany. “This helicopter embodies tomorrow’s requirements – not only in terms of
performance and safety, but also of reliability and effi ciency.” The EC135 T3/P3 off ers more than 200 kg of additional
payload in hot & high conditions. Compared to the previous version this helicopter performs better at sea level, allowing up to 70 kg more payload for single engine/CAT performances. Its tried-and-trusted safety standards match those of the EC135 T2+/P2+. Notable technical improvements in the EC135 T3/P3 include a larger main rotor for more lift, and lateral air inlets for greater effi ciency. The new FADEC software provides optimized engine control and the cockpit features the fully integrated navigation, communication and GPS avionics solution GTN 750 from Garmin. Previous EC135 versions can be fully retrofi tted to bring them up to the technical level of the new EC135 T3/P3. Airbus Helicopters off ers special retrofi t packages that are based on the fl ight hours of each helicopter.

Eff ective immediately, Ron Orndoff will assume the role of Regional Sales Manager in North America, responsible for overseeing marketing and sales activities within the Midwest region. “Ron is an outstanding addition to our commercial sales

Eight of those years were spent in Bell Helicopter’s Northeast U.S. region providing customer support and services as a Customer Service Engineer. He began his career in the U.S. Army Aviation branch, and is proud to have experience in both the military and commercial markets. This inspired a skill set that focuses on extensive technical and customer success oriented service.
