Seasonal BLOOMS

FLOWERS FORM THE CENTREPIECE OF ANY WEDDING AND We Have aSked FouR oF THe ISland’S FloRISTS FoR THEIR SEASONAL CHOICES AS WELL AS TRENDS FOR 2017 AND EXPERT FLORAL ADVICE

SUE EDWARDS DORIS PINKS

Flower trends and themes include lots of greenery. Very natural organic displays are very popular. Deconstructed is also on trend with lots of textures and shades of greens.

Bold, vivid and contrasting colours are also coming through and colours that you wouldn’t think of putting together such peach and merlot, blues and lilacs.

Old fashioned flowers are featuring such as cosmos, zinnias, dahlias and carnations. Garlands for the middle of long trestle tables and hanging displays for marquees are also very popular.

NICOLA LOVEGROVE FLORAL BOUTIQUE

Peonies are a very popular flower choice. We’ve had a bride change the date of her wedding so that she could have a bouquet of just peony! There are some gorgeous tones available now which is very exciting.

There are so many different ways to use flowers for weddings. We’ve decorated a car bonnet, large urns with hydrangea, floating flowers in water features and hanging flowers from ribbons to create a curtain focal point just to name a few!

LEANNE BRINE BAY TREE FLORISTS

We are seeing a very informal loose style for 2017. The hand tied bouquet is the most popular for bridal flowers and wild flower bunches for tables are a favourite too.

There are always people who like the traditional shower style bouquet though too (a longer almost teardrop design - excellent if you are a tall bride) in an ever popular colour scheme of mauves, purples and ivory.

The colours we have seen come through in the weddings we have booked in for 2017 are aubergines and burgundies with soft sage greens.

NIGEL BROWN FLOWERS FOR YOU

Seasonal availability is an important question to ask your florist. Winter weddings may use small pine trees as table centres, or a vase filled with pine cones and white orchid heads.

Ask your florist about how well will the flowers last on the day, order changes, delivery schedule for the day and payment requirements.

Another top tip to ask is about which flowers last well in marquees, hot function rooms or outside weddings? Remember - plan well and enjoy your day!
