Katie has been with NASR-Belvidere since May 2007 and came to the agency after 7 years at SRSNLC-Round Lake. She has a Bachelors of Science Degree in Physical Education; Business Emphasis & Coaching Minor from Rockford College. Katie has a CPRP (Certified Park & Recreation Professional) certification, is working towards her CTRS (Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist) certification, is a Certified ADA Coordinator, and Medic First Aid Instructor Certified.

Bre has been employed with NASR-Belvidere since May, 2010. She began as a camp counselor and is now our newest full time staff who is responsible for overseeing all functions of Camp Horizon, Club Horizon, and New Horizons. Bre has a Bachelors of Science Degree in Communicative Disorders from Northern Illinois University. She is also a Certified Food Manager and oversees all aspects of food handling for NASR-Belvidere & its facility.

Kara has a Master of Arts Degree in Therapeutic Recreation (TR) from the University of Iowa and holds a CTRS. She also has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and a Minor in Dance from Saint Mary’s College. Kara has worked as a TR Program Assistant with the Rockford Park District and has previous experience as a swim team coach and lifeguard.

All NASR-Belvidere participants will have the opportunity to sell $5 tickets with 50% going


directly to their Belvidere Park District household account as a credit. Participants can use credits towards any upcoming NASR-Belvidere program.


Stay tuned for more information! GREGORY’S GIFT SCHOLARSHIP FUND Send a Kid “with Special Needs” to Camp!


Gregory’s Gift is a scholarship fund that allows a child with a disability to attend Camp Horizon Summer Day Camp for 1 week or provide assistance to attend Club Horizon after school program. Gregory was a


child with a disability & the son of a long-time Belvidere Park District em- ployee. After Gregory passed away in 2011, the scholarship fund was re- named in his honor. Although Gregory’s time on this earth was short, he will never be forgotten. His legacy will live on through “Gregory’s Gift.” If


you would like to apply for a scholarship, you may receive an application at the Administration Building or the Rivers Edge during business hours. If you are not able to pick one up, please call Katie H. to have the form mailed. Scholarships are


given based on need & subject to availability.
