Chuck Mitchell on success, safety and having a sense of humor
By Kelly Cargill Crow Contributing Writer
If you find yourself sitting next to Chuck Mitchell
at the next Arkansas Trucking Association event, prepare to be entertained. The 51-year old owner of MC Express is always on. “He’s just so fun, from the time he wakes up to the
time he goes to bed,” said Mitchell’s wife and business partner, Tina Mitchell. She would know; she’s been at his side since they opened their doors in 1994. And she is literally at his side: The couple sits back-to-back in their Jonesboro, Ark. office. “This is going to sound cheesy, but that right there
is my best friend,” he said, pointing across the room. “We got married in September 1994 and started the
business in October 1994,” Tina said. Since then, their two-truck operation has grown to 101 trucks, and the two newlyweds have become a family of six. When does such a busy pair indulge in some alone
time? “We don’t, do we?” Tina asked. “We usually go to lunch together. And that really is our alone time because with four kids, we are always running someone here or there. When we go to lunch, we put our phones away and just visit. When we go home, we don’t really talk about work at all.”
