FIRST AUTONOMOUS DELIVERY IN U.S. IS 50,000 BEER CANS On Oct. 20, a Volvo truck owned
by Otto, a self-driving truck company, delivered 50,000 cans of Budwiser beer from the Anheuser Busch facility in Loveland, Colo. to Colorado Springs, using autonomous technology. A professional driver sat behind the
wheel to direct the truck into a weigh station in Fort Collins, and then the truck drove 100 miles with the human pilot only monitoring the two-hour trip from his sleeper birth until the truck rolled through the city limits of Colorado Springs, where the driver took control again. “There were people in Colorado
Springs this weekend drinking a Budweiser that was delivered by a self-driving truck,” James Sembrot, senior director of logistics strategy at Anheuser-Busch, said after the delivery was successful. The cans were labeled, “First delivery by self-driving truck.”
