Western Australian marina Mandurah Offshore Fishing and Sailing Club (MOFSC) in Western Australia has been formally accredited as a Level 3 Clean Marina and as a Five Gold Anchor marina under the new Global Gold Anchor Scheme. The presentations were made during the Club’s Offi cial Sailing Season Open Day.

MOFSC is a modern 220-berth fl oating marina, which includes a 200 metre Collector Jetty and 123 bays for hard standing, together with launching ramps and wash-down bays within the Peel Region of Western Australia.

The International Clean Marinas environmental program is administered by the Marina Industries Association (MIA) with independent auditors assessing each participating marina. Assessments include, as applicable, mechanical activities, boat maintenance and storage, facility management, workshop, mechanical, shipwright and boat repair, emergency planning and equipment and boater education. In presenting the accreditation at MOFSC, Stuart Walton, MIA Director, said: “The Club’s signifi cant achievement is important as it demonstrates environmental leadership to the wider community. There are now six Clean Marina-accredited facilities in Western Australia with a number of other marinas currently preparing for audits. In total, there are 69 marinas across Australia and Asia committed to environmental best practice”. Mr Walton followed this award with the presentation of the Club’s Gold Anchor accreditation. He added “Mandurah Offshore Fishing and Sailing Club has held Gold Anchor accreditation since 2012. Considerable improvements to the facilities and services have since been made, which is a credit to the Club. I am proud to announce that the Club has achieved a Five Gold Anchor rating under the new Global Gold Anchor Scheme”.
