War memorial projectA working party was to be created for the restoration of the memorial. Funding would be sought and the work would include adding names and correcting those that had been misspelled. Off-road bikersA Maidstone Council enforcement officer had hinted that there had been a decline of interest in quad biking. The club organisers felt itwas unlikely they would meet their limit of events for this year. Twinning Fifty-five visitors from Templeuve aended the fete andwere very impressed. The golf tournament was also a success and ended in a draw. Street lightingA quotation had been received by the street lighting contractors for the LED upgrade in the style of a “faux gas lamp” on black poles.

Village maintenanceA resident aended the meeting to raise concerns about the state of the village and overgrown vegetation from Penfold Hill to Lower Street. Cllr John Gove said the cuing of the vegetation was due to be undertaken by the contractor appointed by the parish council and by Kent County Council. Concernswere raised that the cuings were not being collected by the contractor who had not done a good job. Cllr Gove said the parish council had changed contractors since the previous year. He

Pett Road. Stockbury. Golf buggies, a utility tractor, fencing
and other equipment was damaged at the golf club off Blue Bell Hill. A number plate was taken from a green Toyota Corolla in The Street, Boxley. An outbuilding was broken into at a property in Hayes Lane, Stockbury. A trailer was taken from the yard of a premises off Blue Bell Hill. A vehicle was damaged in Harrow
Court, Stockbury. A home in Abigail Crescent, Boxley,was broken into and car and house keys and cash were taken. A shed was broken into at a horse yard
in Harple Lane, Stockbury. Two vehicle batteries were stolen.

Buildout Cllr Bob China said the buildout at the top of the villagewas overgrown. KCC Cllr Gary Cooke said he would raise this with the highways officer. Therewas a discussion about a burglary in the parish and the action taken by the police. Itwas thought thiswas a particularly bad incident and a police presence at the meeting to allay fears would have been helpful. Itwas agreed to write to the Police and Crime Commissioner about this. Cleanup dayA resident said she had aended this event but nobody had turned up. Cllr Gill Fort said the event had been advertised in the parish magazine but it had not been well organised.
Lenham
Glebe pond A resident raised concerns about newts in the pond following the granting of permission to build on the site. The chairman confirmed full ecological reports have been submied to Maidstone Council during the planning process. Tree branches Therewas a request that overhanging tree branches should be cut back on Lenham Heath Road at Sandway. The landowner would be identified and asked to cut back the vegetation. Liverton HillA residentwas concerned about the incidences of large vehicles that were unable to negotiate the narrow road. Cllr Scrivens said Unsuitable for HGVs signswere to be installed. Trees Itwas reported that trees at the top of Robins Closewere overgrown, aswas the footpath from the station to Lenham Storage. Cllr Sams said the trees at Robins Close had been reported to KCC. Issues with overgrown vegetation had been reported in Honywood Road. ParkingA site meeting would be arranged
with MBC to discuss parking issues in Foord and Douglas Road. Crime report The communitywarden reported that there had been six crimes in Lenham, two in Lenham Heath and four road traffic accidents. Therewere 38 calls to the police from Lenham and six in Lenham Heath. Actionwas being taken about reports of criminal damage. Community centre Itwas resolved that the delegated authority for the land transfer would be concluded by the clerk. Cllrs Greenwood and Jerrewere authorised to execute the transfer. The landlords of the surgery would meet with the trustees to discuss the car park facility. Highways The signage in The Squarewas ongoing with several businesses interested in buying a fingerpost sign. Cllr Scrivens was to aend a meeting with KCC to discuss speed reduction in Headcorn Road. CCTV Cllr Culverwas organising a site meeting at Lenham storage to repair or replace the CCTV overlooking the BMX park. The Ham Lane CCTV also needed repairing. Play facilities Phase one maintenance and repair of equipmentwas almost complete. Leaflets had been delivered to nearby residents outlining future equipment installation. The hedge needed to be cut back – the clerkwas to organise this as a maer of urgency. Environment Cllr Osborne reported overgrown hedges along the High Street and the Twiens footpath.Weeds had been sprayed in The Square and the High Street and now needed to be removed. Cllr Greenwood would discuss this with S. Waring. CllrWalmsley would investigate the option of residents seing up an association and cuing the grass in the Cherry Close play area. Education Lenham Primary’s exam results were favourable. The position of headteacherwas to be advertised. The deputy head had taken on the role in the meantime. Swadelandswere consulting on the building of a new science block. There were concerns about the future of the swimming pool. Cemetery The diseased trees in the south east corner would need to be felled. Quotes would be sought and a tree audit undertaken.
