02 July Lord Mayor’s Norwich


Yes it’s that time of year again to celebrate the Lord Mayor and everything we hold dear about our fine city, spread over three days. Tere’s the Gas Hill Gasp, go-karts, parkour and Feast on the Street on Teatre St, fireworks from the Castle at 10:30, and even a Rumpelstiltskin pageant in Castle Gardens. Te main procession starts at 5 on Saturday and while you wait for the floats to pass you can enjoy street entertainers and loads of local musicians playing live. BBC Voices are taking over the Chapelfield bandstand with local acts including Marigolds, Louis LaRoche, Claws and Kilimonjambo and you can see more great local music including Peach Club in the Chantry Road car park too. Scream if you want to go faster at the funfair, dance your socks off to Finch and Tropico DJ’s and cheer on the 5km road race. Te stage outside the Forum will be packed with amazing multicultural performers of all kinds, Maui Waui offer live music on St Gregory’s Green and natch, there’s the Great Norwich Duck Race from St Julien’s Bridge. Get scheduling, people.


July Teatre Royal Norwich


Expect a Supercalifragilistic July as Mary Poppins drops into the Teatre Royal for the month, carried by her trusty umbrella. Te magical nanny who transforms the lives of the Banks family takes centre stage right through until July 30th. Tis stunning production boasts an incredible set, top West End and touring performers, incredible songs and a story to warm the heart. Heading the cast is Zizi Strallen, who has won rave reviews for her performance and Australian Matt Lee, who takes on the role of Bert, and has It’s a massive undertaking, with a total of 18 lorries full of set, equipment and costumes involved. Tis is a rare chance to catch this epic theatrical experience in Norwich. Tere are some seats left on Monday to Tursday evenings, so don’t miss out. Let’s Fly a Kite straight to the box office now for this Practically Perfect production. And a spoonful of sugar in the interval, yeah?


06 July Te Cut Open


Catch three ‘mazing Norwich bands at Te Cut again this month courtesy of Open, BBC Introducing in Norfolk and us here at Outline. It’s an evening of guitar action with Youth Killed It, Happy Coloured Marbles and Lightscape playing live – catch ‘em before they become HUGE. Tickets just £3 in advance from Open, or £5 on the door. 08 July Garage Unsigned UEA LCR


Te Garage and Young Norfolk Arts Festival are combining forces and taking over the LCR for one night only featuring the best unsigned, handpicked musical acts that Norfolk has to offer. Rock out to tenacious indie four-piece Montagues and Capulets, metal outfit Renegade Twelve, female-fronted band Te Cahoots, the soulful singer-songwriter Ellie Bea, and the smooth vibes of singer songwriter Mullally.
