The British Antique Dealers’ Association 14 Dufferin Street, London EC1Y 8PD T: +44 (0)20 7589 4128 F: +44 (0)20 7581 9083 Website: www.bada.org

The British Antique Dealers’ Association (BADA) was founded in 1918. Its main aim is to establish and maintain confidence between its members and the public, both in buying and selling. In this, it relies upon an annually reviewed membership whose comparatively small numbers are an indication of the high standards set. The BADA currently has some 330 members who meet the required standards of knowledge, integrity and quality of stock.

The association provides safeguards for those who deal with its members, including independent arbitration if disputes arise. Many of its members have the facilities to restore, advise on the restoration, provide valuations or act as consultants. It also runs its own fair in Chelsea each spring.

The BADA is one of the leading representative bodies for the antique dealers’ trade in the United Kingdom, and a founder member of CINOA , the International Confederation of Art Dealers’ Associations.

The BADA Cultural and Educational Trust actively supports restoration courses at West Dean College. This is in keeping with the Association’s tenet that a good antique dealer is the custodian and preserver of the artworks that he or she handles for future generations. Members of the public can also support this charity by becoming a Friend of the BADA Trust. The Trust runs events throughout the year, which include dealer masterclasses, visits to private collections and free admission to many antiques fairs.

During the fair please visit our Gallery Stand 96, where our consumer literature is available free of charge and where you can join the Friends of the BADA Trust. Additionally BADA’s London office is open from 9.15am - 5pm, Monday to Friday, when our staff provide a consumer information service, particularly for those wishing to export works of art, our customs certificates being widely recognised. www.bada.org offers a wealth of information to collectors, including tens of thousands of antiques and works of art for sale from BADA dealers, as well as contact details for all our members.
