2016 introduces the first European section of the US show, SOFA CHICAGO – the Sculpture Objects Functional Art and Design Fair – (SOFA.) Dedicated to three-dimensional art and design, SOFA CHICAGO, critically acclaimed and continuously running since 1994, focuses on artworks that cross boundaries of fine art, decorative art and design. Set within a dedicated area at The Art & Antiques Fair, Olympia, SOFA LONDON will provide a platform for an elite selection of global dealers presenting for sale, one-of-a- kind masterworks crossing a diverse range of genres including contemporary painting, sculpture, innovative glass and mixed media specialists.


To run alongside SOFA LONDON, the Crafts Council will present in the talks programme a session entitled ‘Antiques of the Future’ spotlighting a new generation of designers and makers creating pieces which will stand the test of time. The panel talk includes textile designer, Nadia-Anne Ricketts, ceramist Billy Lloyd and gallery-owner Sarah Myerscough. It will be chaired by Crafts magazine editor Grant Gibson. Time of the talk: Saturday 2nd July from 12.00 - 13.00. This talk will be free to attend for all ticket holders.

LANTERN AND TAVERN CLOCKS EXHIBITION


Lanterns and Taverns – Clocks for the Wall and Hall, 1620-1850 From England’s earliest domestic timepieces to the uniquely British wall clocks of the 18th and 19th Centuries, the fair’s first exhibition will be held at The Art & Antiques Fair, Olympia dedicated to two specialist areas of horology - the Lantern and Tavern Clock


The exhibition will be supported by a daily talk given by Howard Walwyn, from Howard Walywn Ltd Fine Antique Clocks, in conjunction with Milo Mighell, who is credited with having brought interest in the Tavern clocks to market. The talks programme will feature Martin Gatto, author of ‘The Tavern Clock’ on Thursday 30 June, from 12.00 - 13.00 presenting ‘The Tavern Clock 1720 - 1830: A Uniquely British Timepiece’. This talk will be free to attend for all ticket holders.


54 OLYMPIA SHOWCASE


The Art & Antiques Fair, Olympia will be unveiling its first ever Showcase of new industry talent. Five specially selected dealers who have been trading for seven years or less will have the opportunity to showcase their pieces to visitors from around the globe. Dealers will present furniture and objects, fine and contemporary art, antique porcelain, modern paintings, drawings and prints.


The exhibitors – chosen chosen for their high standard, positive reputation and varied expertise will be grouped together on the gallery level and marked as the ‘Olympia Showcase’.
