INDUSTRY NEWS Positive feedback on IWB Week H

eld at Stockholmsmässan from 24-26 May, 2016, the three eventful days confi rmed IWB Week’s

status as the premier and most progressive meeting place for the wood biorefi ning industries, as well as new wood-based innovations and products. The event enabled those taking part to share knowledge, innovation and new ideas with each other and created a platform to meet, network, do business and stay updated.

IWB Week had a fi nal visitor

fi gure after three days of 1,425, who had travelled to Stockholm from 50 countries worldwide, making it the most international event of its kind. The exhibition fl oor hosted 170 exhibitors from 23 countries.

IWB Week not only offered a great exhibition, but also a conference, including four parallel sessions focusing on 22 different topics within wood-based biorefi ning. In addition, there were a wide range of other activities.

On Tuesday, 24 May, Innventia released its Global Outlook Report and on the following day, participants gathered for a networking BBQ evening at Hotell Hasselbacken in beautiful Djurgården.

Speaking after the show, Marcus Bergström, CEO of joint organiser Adforum, said: “The feedback from the exhibitors, visitors and conference delegates to the event has, in general, been positive. The Nordic forest industry has for a long time deserved a meeting place focusing on the entire forest industry, including

Gustav Melin, CEO of the Swedish Bioenergy Association, added: “We had great conference days! Several speakers showed the potential for changing fossil materials and energy to bio-based products, sometimes profi table sometimes in need of higher fossil costs to compete. As we said during the conference, it is not about decarbonisation of the society, but about recarbonisation of products and energy with green carbon. It also became obvious during the debates that it is important to not distort energy markets with too many subsidies and support schemes. Politicians need to work with a level playing fi eld and general incentives like carbon dioxide pricing and NOx fees instead of double counting of wastes or cellulose or raw material lists, which interfere too much with ordinary market conditions”. Four events in one location

In a time of policy changes and technological advances, there is now even more reason to visit RWM in 2016. This year, the event takes place at the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham, from 13-15 September. It promises to stimulate and attract the attention of the broadest cross-sector audience at the international showcase of resource and waste management innovation, together with its three co-located shows: The Energy Event, The Renewables Event and The Water Event.

Event organisers, i2i Events Group, in partnership with the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management, will explore and highlight a variety of initiatives,

Bringing together the entire resource ecosystem gives visitors the opportunity to explore further afi eld with three co-located two- day shows on 13-14 September, which will provide a platform for cross-sector networking, boosting synergies and encouraging achievable strategies to be considered.

The Energy Event is the UK’s leading event for energy and utilities procurement professionals and brings together the supply and demand side industry to help infl uence the way energy is bought and managed.
