solent deals awards 2016 Judging time for entries The deadline is past, entries are in, and judging takes place this month
The 2016 Solent Deals Awards have attracted a record number of entries, and judges now have the difficult task of identifying the top firms and individuals in the region’s deals arena.
The finalists will be announced in the next issue of The Business Magazine, and the winners revealed at the Awards evening on June 9 at a prestigious gala dinner that has become the key corporate finance event in the Solent.
Law firm Irwin Mitchell has agreed to sponsor the Dealmaker of the Year category in the Solent Deals Awards. Irwin Mitchell has been named one of the most active legal advisers for mergers and acquisitions work in the UK. The firm, which recently completed its merger with Thomas Eggar, was ranked in fourth place in the latest Experian tables.
The original Stig, Perry McCarthy, is the host on the night. Known for his humour, and speed in the world of international motor racing, he is also famous for his determination, opportunism and dealmaking skills.
His motto is 'whatever it takes', and so much so that he worked on North Sea oil rigs for two years to fund the start of his journey to Grand Prix.
Then as his progression upward through the ranks of international motor sport demanded more finance, instead of saying “this is impossible” he relentlessly sought the necessary sponsorship to make his dream of becoming a Grand Prix driver come true.
His attitude and his story have been inspirational. Damon Hill, 1996 F1 world champion, said of him: “I have constant admiration for how he turns a no-hope situation into some sort of triumph.”
THE EVENING
The region’s deals of the year will be announced and celebrated at this prestigious gala dinner which takes place on Thursday June 9 at St Mary’s Stadium, Southampton.
