• Bournemouth-based marketing and PR agency The Collective Group has taken on two new members of staff, as the company continues to expand into its two key target markets: the engineering industry and the education sector. Laura Shepherdson has joined as a sales and marketing co-ordinator. Her role is primarily to support and assist the business in developing its own sales and marketing activities, in addition to providing marketing and PR support to a number of clients. Shepherdson qualified with an English degree, and has joined the company from her previous post with the RNLI in Poole. Andy Potter, a video editing expert, started his career in photography and developed his expertise working for a number of local businesses. He also does freelance work. He joins the company at a time when the use of video in marketing has expanded significantly, particularly in the engineering sector.


• Banker Steve Cripps has been named as chairman of the Portsmouth Property Association (PPA) for a second successive year. He becomes only the second person in the past 65 years to hold the role for two consecutive years and will preside over a record membership of around 170 people. The Fareham-born 59-year-old is SME relationship manager for NatWest Bank in Fareham and the first banker to have held the role.


• Bryony Davies has been promoted to associate within the private client team at Steele Raymond LLP, the leading Dorset commercial law firm. She has enjoyed nine years with Steele Raymond, starting her career as a paralegal in 2007, progressing to trainee solicitor in 2009 and becoming a taxation technician in May 2011. Since August 2011 she has been dual qualified as both a solicitor and a tax technician.


• JLL’s lease advisory and commercial valuation services team led by Steven Farndell, who has worked at JLL as a director for 12 years, is being expanded by two new appointments which will help it in offering companies advice on any aspect of commercial leases and property valuations. Rebecca Newton joins as lead director from QinetiQ, a defence and technology company. Having worked for a number of large organisations, she brings a wealth of asset management experience to the team. Claire Elderfield has been appointed associate director. She worked previously at property company Goadsby, CBRE and Bilfinger GVA. Michael Green, head of JLL’s office in Southampton, said: “Rebecca and Claire’s arrival to the team signifies our decision to significantly grow this part of the business in the south of England. We have now added 10 new surveyors to our team over the past 12 months alone, and will be announcing further appointments shortly.”


• Leading South Coast law firm Coffin Mew has appointed three new partners and promoted one of its solicitors in a renewal of its commitment to reward those who make a difference to the firm and help drive it into new areas. Associate solicitors Ian Dawes and Annabelle Vaughan have been appointed partners – Dawes to head up the dispute resolution team in Southampton, while Vaughan will run the specialist court of protection team in Portsmouth. Mark James has joined Coffin Mew from Rix and Kay as a new partner in dispute resolution, and will work in Brighton and the firm’s other South Coast offices. He specialises in construction and sports law. Mirren McGinley, who is Brighton-based, has been promoted to associate solicitor. Her wealth of experience will be in demand as she helps develop the firm’s specialist commercial property team.

• Quantuma, one of the UK's fastest- growing restructuring and insolvency specialists, has made another key appointment with Simon Campbell joining the Southampton office as a director. He has over 20 years’ experience advising and assisting secured creditors, directors, shareholders and other senior stakeholders exposed to the challenges of business distress. He has worked with three national firms in London and most recently in the southern region.


• At Pitmans LLP, Oliver Kelly and Matt Heyworth have been promoted to partners. Kelly (pictured) works in the corporate department in Southampton and specialises in mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions and general corporate and commercial matters. John Hutchinson, Managing Partner, said “Ollie is already well known in the Southampton market and will make a great contribution to the future of the business across the Thames Valley.” Heyworth works in the family & matrimonial department at Reading and specialises in all aspects of family law, including divorce, matrimonial finances, the preparation of pre- nuptial and post-nuptial agreements and children matters.
