ublic transportation has existed in Montréal, Canada for over 150 years. In fact, the first tramways, which were horse- drawn at the time, began operating on the city’s streets on

and became a public corporation in 1951, STM (Société de trans- port de Montréal) has always fulfilled its mission to provide Mon-

trealers with fast, reliable, economical public transport services. Together with RTC (Réseau de Transport de la Capitale) the STM coordinate services across greater Montréal. Today, Montréal is a bustling, successful and attractive place
to live and work. At the heart of this “liveable” city is the efficient and well-used public transportation services. With over 400 mil- lion trips annually, four metro lines, five train lines and 3000 buses,
