His books will keep readers enthralled and pleasingly off-balance in equal measure. Don’t miss the chance to meet this up-and-coming young author.
Anaheim Public Library Foundation presents an Evening with Wendy Hornsby and Tim Hallinan Monday, May 2nd, 7:00 to 9:00pm at Central Library
Edgar-award winner Wendy Hornsby is the author of 11 mystery novels, seven of them featuring Maggie MacGowen. The author says she contin- ues to return to the same heroine because she has fallen in love with the character. “I like spending time with my characters, and I have a hard time letting them go,” said Hornsby, whose first book was published in 1987. She is a longtime Long Beach resident and retired Long Beach City College history professor.
Timothy Hallinan writes thrillers, and splits his time between Southern California and Southeast Asia. In the 1990s,
Hallinan created the erudite private eye Simeon Grist, who appeared in a total of six novels, all set in Los Angeles. Several of them appeared on yearly top
ten lists. His second series features a rough travel writer named Philip Rafferty, and is set in Bangkok, where the author has lived off and on since the early 1980s. In 2011 he launched his latest series starring Junior Bender, private detective to Los Angeles' underworld elite. In his non-writing career,
Hallinan has served as a consultant to some of America's top corporations, advising on issues of television sponsorship and audience-building.
