2016 FESTIVAL GUIDE
NORFOLK & NORWICH
FESTIVAL 2016 13th-29th May
All over Norwich - For the culture vultures of our fine city
It’s back, and it’s going in hard for 2016. Norfolk and Norwich Festival is the UK’s longest running arts festival and there’s absolutely loads of treats being lined up for your pleasure this May right here in our fine city. If performance is what you dig, check out Te Tempest at Great Yarmouth Hippodrome, no doubt making full use of its underground pool, the festivals’ opening show, Flat, or for those of you with some stamina, the three part James Plays at the Teatre Royal. Discover young poet Hollie McNish at the Arts Centre or head up to Felbrigg Hall for a full on sensory walk. Te Adnams Spiegeltent plays host to some extraordinary jazz and world music as well as cabaret and a talk by author Irvine Welsh as well as the return of the Ragroof Tea Dances. Tere’s loads for the kids, with the weekend Garden Party at Chapelfield on 21st and 22nd May as well as Bounce & Rhyme Time at the Spiegeltent. Musically there’s a fantastic line up, with Billy Bragg at the Yarmouth Hippodrome, Sun Ra Arkestra and Tindersticks at Open, Branford Marsalis at the Cathedral and a very special collaboration from local young musicians called Wild Life. Don’t forget Max Richter at the Teatre Royal with his piece Sleep, perfectly composed for you to nod off to, plus a couple of double-good Pony Up’s at NAC. All in all, you won’t have a minute to spare in May so get your tickets and I’ll see you there, yeah?
