Strength of regional office market boosts Morgan Lovell

Leading office interior design, fit out and refurbishment specialist Morgan Lovell has won and completed a number of significant contracts to design and deliver new offices in and around the Thames Valley

Headlining the final quarter of 2015, Morgan Lovell was appointed by environmental services company SUEZ to refurbish its Maidenhead headquarters. Morgan Lovell also began working with a renowned chocolatier, regional recruiter, data protection specialist and software solutions firm. The team also handed over the keys of newly-refurbished offices to global medical firm Convatec, analytics software specialist FICO, both in Reading, and Oxford-based Winton Capital Management.

New look for old

Having recently re-signed its lease, and with support from its existing landlord, SUEZ was able to appoint Morgan Lovell to deliver the fit out of 25,000 sq ft of office space, across five floors. External works will also be included in the scope of work with plans to create a welcoming entrance and veranda. With the arrival of Crossrail in Maidenhead in 2019, this project will modernise the space bringing it up to date with its changing surroundings, whilst making the workspace more reflective of SUEZ’s business strategy.

Facilities manager for SUEZ, Glynn Mitchell, said: “The upgrade of our Maidenhead office, and change to our working practices as a result, will help foster a greater spirit of collaboration within the workplace, which is one of the core values of our business. We are delighted to have Morgan Lovell on board to assist us with this and we look forward to seeing the final result later this year.”

As part of its commitment to sustainable office design, Morgan Lovell will also deliver the SUEZ refurbishment to a SKA Gold standard, which will include sourcing sustainable products, recycling and reusing materials. As 300 members of staff will be moving into the building during the phased construction project, Morgan Lovell will also ensure that the transitions are coordinated with business

activities to minimise disruption to day-to-day operations.

Relocation cements reputation

In Reading, Morgan Lovell has successfully delivered American analytics software firm FICO’s newest office. Having already established two UK offices – in London and Birmingham – FICO exchanged serviced offices for its own premises in Green Park, a well-regarded business community. Morgan Lovell was brought on board to help imprint the brand identity on this workspace, something which was considered key in terms of FICO’s positioning for growth, says Pino Catalano, lead designer at Morgan Lovell.

“We are delighted with the outcome of our new offices”, commented senior director of corporate services at FICO Abe Kleinfeld, “and Morgan Lovell did a terrific job interpreting our vision for collaborative space. They worked with us to make cost-effective choices and yet retain a highly functional and inviting work environment. Our team couldn’t be more pleased with their new space. I would recommend Morgan Lovell to other companies seeking a design and fit-out partner that truly understands customer service.”

Catalano added: “Working very closely with FICO, we were able to deliver a cost-efficient design and create a functional space that is representative of the brand. Our brief was to create an office that cements the reputation of the business in the Thames Valley, incorporating workspace efficiencies and innovative furniture solutions that are flexible enough to support accelerated growth.”

A new home for Morgan Lovell

In the summer the Morgan Lovell team also celebrated its own relocation and refurbishment, moving from Wokingham to a purpose-built

“Wokingham was our home for over 15 years, and the end of our lease gave us the opportunity to review our business requirements,” says managing director Colin Allan, “and create an environment that helps us better serve clients. With this in mind, we were able to shape and fit out the office space to our exact requirements and showcase our design capabilities in a high-quality business park with buckets of potential. We undertook a similar journey that many of our clients do, and the personal experience is invaluable in positioning us to win and deliver more work in the region.”

Part of Morgan Sindall Group plc, a leading UK construction and regeneration group with revenue of over £2 billion, Morgan Lovell also provides furniture solutions and workplace consulting to clients seeking additional support for their office project. With its own teams of designers, surveyors and project managers, the company can design, manage and deliver entire projects with the benefit of just one point of contact.
