As I reflect on my years as a member of the Association, participating in meetings and events and having the opportunity to serve in various roles with the Nebraska Trucking Association, one thing that has always struck me is the quality of our paid staff, both present and past staff. During my tenure on the Executive Committee, we’ve been faced with several long term and very talented staff members retiring or going another direction, and we’re always concerned about the loss of their talents and institutional knowledge. In January, Joyce Daake our Director of Truck Services will be retiring after almost 20 years of hard work and faithful loyal service. Joyce has been an integral part of our truck services; now she will be able to spend more time with her husband Dale and her family. We wish her all the best.

While the loss of great staff and the challenges that come with that loss are inevitable, change also brings an opportunity for positive growth. Te quality of an organization rests not only on the ability to retain the highest quality people, but also to attract and successfully recruit new staff who will continue the legacy of these tenured employees. After a recent opportunity to meet and visit with the many new faces that have appeared over the past year and a half, I’m very pleased to say that Larry has assembled a team with a wealth of excitement, energy, and experience that will not only ensure the continuation of our mission but will also enable us to broaden the scope of our mission in many ways. In an effort to help each of you understand the depth and breadth of our staff, I’ve asked Larry to publish in this edition a picture and bio of everyone, new and old. I hope you will join me in welcoming the new faces and congratulating our “old” members of the staff as they continue to represent our mission of Advocacy, Information and Services to the Trucking industry in Nebraska.

I would like to start by stating that I’m extremely honored and excited to have been selected to serve as your Chairman for the upcoming year. Your Executive Officers and I have hit the ground running; we had our first meeting in early November, focusing on how we can best help our staff move this GREAT Association forward. We have an outstanding team of Executive Officers and staff in the Association and Truck Services that will do their best to represent all of our members and their concerns.
