Greetings everyone! Congratulations on surviving and hopefully thriving in this ever changing and sometimes challenging industry. Despite the changes and challenges, it is good to know that the trucking industry remains strong and growing to serve our nation’s daily needs for the ontime and damage free delivery of people and goods to where they need to be.


One of the changes at the Association, I’m happy to report is in our ongoing efforts to serve the needs of our members, we will be introducing a new menu of services to assist members and non- members in need of affordable and easily accessible and affordable fee based Safety Consulting Services under our Truck Services Division. Te new division within Truck Services will be headed up by a well known industry professional, Doug Doncheski. With Doug’s retirement on December 31st, 2015 as the MCSAP Director for the State of Nebraska’s Carrier Enforcement Division, he will be bringing over 42 years of Commercial Motor Vehicle experience and leadership to his new position on January 1st, 2016 as our newly created Director of Safety Training and Membership Development.


Tis position was envisioned and created by our own Executive Committee Leadership earlier this summer based on the growing needs of trucking companies needing additional help and training in understanding and meeting the requirements of FMCSA’s safety compliance. With the introduction of the national CSA scoring system, the complexity of understanding the many factors that go into a carrier’s safety rating has become more difficult and time consuming, especially for smaller fleets which make up a large percentage of the trucking companies in Nebraska and across the nation. Doug’s extensive knowledge of the FMCSA rules/regulations along with his experience in training not only carrier enforcement officers, but also the public at large in our state wide Commercial Vehicle Safety Training Town Hall meetings, will allow us as your Association to make an even bigger commitment to helping our industry improve our safety scores, but also reduce our already all-time low truck related traffic incidents even lower.


Te menu will include services such as onsite “mock” safety audits, individual training for company safety personnel, developing group safety/industry certification classes, possible monitoring services for your CSA scores and maintenance of driver qualification files. In addition, as safety topics arise and/or regulations change it will be our intent on holding regional safety training town hall meetings when and where they are needed. As Doug is traveling the state, he will also make personal face-to-face contact with new, potential and existing members to improve our communications with all members across the state.


Please join me in congratulating Doug on his retirement from the Nebraska State Patrol and his new career as our Director of Safety Training and Membership Development.
