QF Focus Magazine great friends of Phil

Lynott and Gary Moore from Thin Lizzy. During his time working with both record labels, Lee

worked

Hi All! This month, I am delighted to feature a veteran musician, with a more than impressive C.V. I am referring of course, to none other than Lee Howard. If the name sounds familiar, Lee presents a twice weekly weekend show on Big FM Radio.

Lee was a mere 13 year old when he began playing guitar. After a few lessons, this budding musician

was determined wanted to pursue a musical career.

Lee was fortunate to get opportunities working in TV with Muriel Gray and Stubby Kaye. After several years working with bands on his local circuit, he joined Chrysalis Records and rose to become Record Executive.

Simultaneously, Lee worked with many major singers and bands, both recording and touring worldwide. Some years later, Lee joined Decca Records and became

that he with The

Moody Blues, Jethro Tull, Steeleye Span and Leo Sayer and many more household names. Lee

worked closely

with Adam Faith, who published for Blondie and the “late” great David Bowie. It was during this time that Lee was offered a recording

contract with

Decca and a publishing contract with. Chrysalis. Stardom eluded Lee, when Adam Faith offered him the chance to record “One man band”, written then by an “unknown” Leo Sayer (also managed by Adam Faith). Lee recorded this very song under the pseudonym “Robert E Lee”, and after much airplay and positive reviews predicting a smash hit - Leo Sayer recorded and released this very song.... and took it straight into the top ten.

Still, Lee considers himself very privileged to have met and worked with the most successful artistes at the time. He is now working with John Holeman, and has been working with The Fortunes. Lee is also involved with Tony Hillier, Roger Scott Cook and Roger Greenaway, who between them, have written, produced and sold millions of records worldwide. If you haven’t seen Lee performing... watch the local press for details of up coming gigs.
