Sign Up Now for Winter CSA

F

ishkill Farms is now sign- ing up share- holders for its Winter CSA, which runs for 16 weeks start- ing December 5 and end- ing March 26.

Shares will be available for pickup at their Farm Store in Hopewell Junction, NY, on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. CSA, or Community Supported

Agriculture, is a way for consumers to buy local, seasonal produce directly from a farmer in their community. CSA shareholders make an upfront payment to support the farm, in return reaping a weekly supply of fruits, vegetables and other farm products.

Contents of the shares vary from week to week, depending on availability, but Fishkill Farms’ winter fruit and veggie shares generally include a combination of fresh and storage produce (e.g., apples, cider, beets, cabbage, onions, potatoes); frozen produce (e.g., peaches, tomatoes, corn, peppers); and jarred goods (e.g., jams, chutneys, tomato sauce). Fishkill Farms also sells egg, milk and cheese shares.

The farm and store are located at 9 Fishkill Farm Rd., Hopewell Junction. For information, call 845.897.4377, email csa@fishkillfarms.com or visit FishkillFarms.com.

New Weight-Loss Meal Delivery, Yoga Series M

indful Life Weight Loss and its partner company, Still Mind

Martial Arts & Yoga, are launching two new programs: an organic meal delivery service to help people tran- sition to a whole-foods diet for im- proved health and weight loss; and a six-class series, “Yoga for a Pain-Free Body and Stress-Free Mind,” begin- ning in January with guest teacher Athina Pride.

Kim Gold, cofounder of Mind-

ful Life Weight Loss, says the meal delivery service is part of the center’s integral, holistic program addressing weight loss through diet, lifestyle and exercise. Mindful Life already offers group and individual lifestyle counseling and mindful ex- ercise like yoga, tai chi, aikido and chi gung. The meal delivery program is intended to help people adopt a whole-foods diet with minimal effort. The fresh, organic meals include a variety of dietary preferences including vegan, paleo and flexitarian. The menu changes every week. “There is a need in our community for fresh, portion-controlled, wholesome

food,” Gold says, “but people just don’t have the time. Meal delivery saves time in planning, prepping and cooking. There is always a tasty meal ready to eat, making weight loss easier and more predictable. Combined with our lifestyle coaching and mindful exercise, this is a complete weight-loss system.” Pride’s yoga six-week series will be held Saturdays from 2 to 3:15 p.m. at Mind-

ful Life Weight Loss, 305 Central Avenue, 2nd Floor, White Plains, NY. Students will learn how to avoid unhealthy, habitual movements and postures that tend to cause pain and discomfort, and they will take home new techniques to help them eliminate pain and stress.

Pride is a 500-hour Kripalu certified yoga instructor with more than 17 years of

teaching experience. She has studied with many yoga masters at Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Lenox, Massachusetts, where she obtained her professional level certification, and with other master instructors throughout the United States. From 2002 to 2013, she owned her own yoga studio in Larchmont, NY. She is also a Reiki master.
