CACHE Level 2 Certificate in an Introduction to Early Years Education and Care (Early Years Educator)


Continue to:


• the CACHE Level 3 qualification if the student passes GMS test for entry to Level 3


• seek employment, and then train through the employers Level 3 programme


CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education (Early Years Educator)


Continue to:


• university (e.g. teaching; child psychology; social work) • private nannying


• a teacher assistant role in a primary school OR • seek nursery employment

Professional Practice Portfolio 1 - To be able to evidence the above units in practice through; reflective accounts, answering case studies and writing essays.

All the above units are either essay or portfolio based and internally marked. External assessment: reflective study.

Early years teachers will be graduate leaders in early years’ settings on a par with school teachers. They will need to meet new standards, which closely mirror the standards for classroom teachers. Trainees will need to take the same skills tests taken by classroom teacher trainees. These measures will raise the status of the profession and help attract high-quality graduates into early education.


Early years educators will hold A-level equivalent qualifications and provide support to early years teachers.

Placements


A minimum of 730 placement hours are required over the 2 years of study. Every other week students are on


placement for a minimum of 7 hours per day. Great Marlow School works very closely with students to arrange placements that are close to their home. Placements used must have a good or outstanding Ofsted rating to ensure best practice is offered to students.


Placement will be in at least two different settings in the following age ranges:

It is important to note that placements are arranged for all students. Monday and Friday for Level 2 students at a pre-school. Monday to Thursday, every other week, for Level 3 at a nursery or reception class under 5 years old.
