Spotlight on Truck Drivers ATA members observe National Truck Driver Appreciation Week By ATR Staff For the past 16 years, the Arkansas

Trucking Association has joined the nation in recognizing the unsung heroes of our industry during National Truck Driver Appreciation Week. ATA partnered with TA Petro Stopping Center on September 17 to celebrate professional men and women whose office is the cab of a truck. Volunteers came out to the TA Petro Stopping Center on I-40 to serve free lunches and distribute goodie bags in North Little Rock, Ark. The smell of hamburg- ers, hot dogs and chicken sandwiches straight from the grill filled the park- ing lot, and drivers from right here in Central Arkansas, all over the coun- try and even Canada enjoyed lunch and played games. Country musician Lindsay Lawler was on site to provide entertainment on her Highway Angel Tour.

Twenty-one (21) corporate

members of the Arkansas Trucking Association donated food, refreshments, goodies and volunteers for the event. The appreciation shown to professional truck drivers was just a small slice of

how grateful we all are for the job they do around the clock, 365 days a year. ATA would like to extend its appre- ciation to the following companies which made the event possible and our gratitude evident to the drivers who attended:

acknowledge the dedication of the pro- fessional truck drivers in the United States that move America’s freight safely and securely every day. Members all around the state showed drivers how much they matter to the business and to us all. CalArk took a truck to a local pre-

school to teach students about trucking and how cool the job is. National Truck Staffing created a special newsletter highlighting driver stories. Distribution Solutions, Inc. set up free lunch at a local truckstop to feed drivers as they came through and then at their own facilities to celebrate their own drivers as well. Bray Fast Freight showed their love in the Batesville newspaper and passed out new caps and Yeti mugs to their drivers.
