MONTH’S BAND

SECRET FROM

RICHARD

It might seem like Secret From Richard have been quietly going about their business over the last year or so, but in truth they have had something of a mini revolution. Take new single Collide; it's crisper and cooler. Louis, the new bassist, has taken their live act up yet another notch.

All of which is why they have made Te Cut, the new gig night from BBC Introducing in Norfolk, Outline and OPEN on Tursday the 3rd December.

WHAT? Jason Sturman vocals, guitar, Shaun Banham guitar, Louis Baker bass, vocals, Jesse Baker drums, vocals

Notice a family thing going on there? Yep, younger brother Louis used to watch them rehearse, snuck in on a few practices and was the obvious candidate to draft in for former SFR member Matt. Tey met at Attleborough High School originally.

SOUNDS LIKE? Whilst the guitars and drums have always been wicked, the voices are really important here. Tey are blessed with a front man and back-up vocals that take them over the rock wall and into indie. Te latest tracks recorded at a London studio shows them for what they are; a band growing in maturity as writers and song makers.

LIVE? Te music on disc sounds good, but live they push themselves more, express themselves and demonstrate what good

performers they really are. "It's where we can have fun," says Jason, "we want it to sound different from the CD. We're all pretty buzzed when we turn up to play." You feel their excitement and it drives the atmosphere up in the room.

FUTURE PLANS? We're waiting for the album, but they are not taking it that quick. It's the pr side they are focussing on right now. "It's almost more important than the music," said Jason. "Bands don't come from nowhere; in reality, you have to work at it." It's beginning

to pay off, with their name popping up around the UK.

Catch Secret From Richard at new gig night Te Cut at OPEN in Norwich on Tursday 3rd December. With Midnight Zoo, Tieving Icons and BK and Dad. Brought to you by BBC Introducing in Norfolk, Outline and OPEN.
