Ashley was once dubbed the ‘Ronaldo of hockey’

Ashley clearly thrives on a challenge and finds golf both a difficult sport but also one which is addictive.


He said: “It is challenging, but a sport in which you can always be better.”

He added: “I am looking forward to


working with team-mates old and new at Holcombe HC, contributing to a new team in the Premier League whilst continuing my development as a player. David is a lovely guy and wants the club to do as well as possible, to promote the sport as a whole.


“We don’t receive much funding from UK sport and he sees this as a way of bringing money into the squad and nurturing full time professional hockey players.”
